The final batch of fixtures in the final international window of 2023 saw South Korea earn a 3-0 win over China while the U22 team picked up an impressive 3-0 win away to a Thierry Henry-led France side.
China 0-3 South Korea, FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers
Another win and another cleansheet for South Korea on Tuesday with Jurgen Klinsmann's mean earning a 3-0 victory away to China. Ulsan Hyundai's Jung Seung-hyun nodded in the third goal of the match, guiding in a Son Heung-min cross in the 87th minute.
Jung was one of three K League players to start the match along with his Ulsan teammate Kim Tae-hwan who got the nod to start at right back, and Suwon Bluewings' Lee Ki-je on the left. Jeonbuk's Park Jin-seob came on in injury to make his full international debut, after Seol Young-woo had come on to replace Kim Tae-hwan.
With the win, Korea now sit top of Group C three points clear of Thailand in second who earned a 3-1 win over Singapore.
Philippines 1-1 Indonesia, FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers
Asnawi Mangkualam and Indonesia were back in action on Tuesday looking to bounce back from the 5-1 loss to Iraq. Indonesia earned their first point in Group F with Asnawi playing the full 90 minutes. The Jeonnam Dragon wingback played on the right side of a midfield three, in front of a back five.
France U22 0-3 South Korea U22, Friendly
A K League-heavy Korea U22 side earned a very impressive 3-0 win over a Thierry Henry-led France U22 team on Monday. All but three players from Hwang Sun-hong's squad are players on the books of K League teams.
Pohang Steelers' Hong Yun-sang got Korea's third goal of the match in the 94th minute after former Suwon Bluewings striker Jeong Sang-bin had bagged a brace with goals on 70 and 79 minutes. The first goal was a stunning free kick but the second was a well-worked move down the left. On the counter, Jeonbuk's Oh Jae-hyeok ushered the ball into the path of Ulsan's Cho Hyeon-taek whose teasing ball across the six-yard box towards Kang Seong-jin was missed by the FC Seoul winger but Jeong Sang-bin was on hand to tap in from close range. The third goal was a bit of a comedy of errors but Hong Yun-sang reacted quickest to guide the ball home from the edge of the box.
