notice 2023.03.31   I   hits 934

The teams in the second division return the bread and butter of the league this weekend after some mid-week FA Cup action. On Sunday, there's a clash between two of the favourites for promotion in Gimcheon Sangmu versus Gyeongnam FC, a still-unbeaten FC Anyang take on a Chungnam Asan side still in search of a first league win, while high-flying Gimpo FC and their in-form Colombian striker Luis Mina take on table-topping Bucheon.

Match of the Round

Gimcheon Sangmu vs Gyeongnam FC (Sun. 2nd April - 13:30)

Still unbeaten with two wins and two draws, Gyeongnam FC head to North Gyeongsang this Sunday to take on one of the favourites for promotion Gimcheon Sangmu. Both, though, were unable to win their last league games with Gimcheon losing 3-1 away to Busan IPark while Gyeongnam drew at home to Chungbuk Cheongju. Both, then, will be keen to get their promotion pushes back on track this Sunday.

Gimcheon, being the army side, have a tough defence and the highest percentage of shots blocked at 35.9%. Gimcheon rank fifth for duels, tackles and interceptions per minute of possession too, also known as 'challenge intensity' at 6.8. But Sung Han-soo's men have also made the most passes per 90 minutes with 502.8 and are the most accurate at 87.5%.

Gyeongnam are the league's top scorers having found the back of the net eight times and have registered the most shots with 60. The Roses have been the most accurate shooters, too, with 22 finding the target. Shooting from distance, too, is something that's one of Gyeongnam's strengths as Seol Ki-hyeon's side sit second in that regard with 35. But, Seol is set to be without his top scorer Won Ki-jong who has picked up a slight hamstring problem in the match against Chungbuk Cheongju.

Team of the Round

FC Anyang (vs. Chungnam Asan, Sat. 1st April - 13:30)

After FA Cup defeat in midweek for FC Anyang, it's time to focus on the league. The Violets lost 4-1 to fellow K League 2 side Busan IPark on Wednesday but manager Lee Woo-hyung opted for rotation with promotion to K League 1 the priority. FC Anyang are unbeaten in the league so far with two wins and two draws. Anyang have been one of the more attacking teams in the division so far this term having dispatched the third-most shots at 52, 16 of which have found the target which is the fourth-best. Most of the Violets' shots have been inside the area, 36 in total which is the most in the division. Only 16 shots have been attempted from outside the area, the fourth-least. Up next for Anyang is the visit of Chungnam Asan on Saturday. Asan are yet to win this season and so will be determined to get off the mark.

Player of the Round

Luis Mina, Gimpo FC (vs. Bucheon FC 1995, Sat. 1st April - 18:30)

Gimpo FC are into the next round of the FA Cup following a 4-2 win over Yeoju and, following two wins and a draw, are unbeaten in the league. Last time out Ko Jeong-woon's side earned a 2-0 victoruy away to Jeonnam Dragons thanks to a brace from Colombian forward Luis Mina. That makes it three from an xG of 1.78 for the season now having also scored in the 4-0 win over Cheonan City in Round 2. Luis is joint third for shots on target in K League 2 with five, sixth for total sots with nine - five of which have been from inside the box. Up next for Luis and Gimpo is the visit of Bucheon FC 1995, a side that sits top of the league with nine points from 12 available.
