Match of the Round
Gimpo FC vs. Bucheon FC 1995
Bucheon FC 1995 make the short trip to Gimpo FC this Sunday for an encounter that could further shape the playoff picture. A convincing 5-1 victory over Hwaseong last weekend has reignited Gimpo’s faint hopes of a top five berth but they will need two more wins in these final two matches to stand any chance of realising this ambition. For Bucheon, while second place is no longer within reach, a win would confirm a place in the playoffs and further cement a theoretically easier route to the final. With Gimpo unbeaten in two and Bucheon with four wins in their last five, the stage is set for an enticing encounter.
Team of the Round
Seongnam FC
Seongnam FC are once again to keep an eye on this weekend. An impressive 2-0 victory over Jeonnam Dragons has meant the Magpies’ momentum has continued to build at the right time with three consecutive wins placing them just a point behind fifth with two games to play. A victory against Cheonan City and results going there way elsewhere could see them into the playoff positions.
Player of the Round
Euller, Seoul E-Land
After reaching the play-off final last season, Seoul E-Land are on the brink of qualifying again once more. It has been nine games since Kim Do-kyun's side last tasted defeat yet their place in the top five is still not secure. A goalless draw last week to Gyeongnam threatened to derail their momentum but their position has held and their fate remains in their hands.
Leading the Leopards' charge is that of Euller. With 11 goals and 11 assists for the campaign so far, the Brazilian's first season in Korea has been a more than productive one. Absent last week in his team's goalless draw, they will be hoping that he can return them to winning ways this weekend when they take on Chungbuk Cheongju.
