2025 Hana Bank K League 1 Round 24 Preview

league 2025.07.24   I   조회수 174

After a high-scoring midweek helped set the table for an exciting finish to the regular season, weekend action returns with Round 24 of the 2025 Hana Bank K League 1 season. With that in mind, both Daejeon Hana Citizen and FC Seoul are out for potentially season-defining wins, Suwon FC will aim to keep building momentum when up against FC Anyang, and Jeju SK have found form at just the right time going into their clash with Gimcheon Sangmu.

Match of the Round

Daejeon Hana Citizen vs. FC Seoul

In a meeting between two teams looking to cement their goals for the rest of 2025, Daejeon Hana Citizen host FC Seoul. For the Purples, a 94th-minute Kim Jun-beom winner gave them a vital three points away at Ulsan HD last time out, and their first victory since late May. As for FC Seoul, they couldn't avoid a 3-2 defeat against Jeju SK in midweek, with a stoppage-time Rim Chang-woo winner giving the capital city side plenty to think about, particularly given they managed just three attempts on target.

This season, both clashes between these clubs have ended in stalemates, the most recent of which being a 0-0 draw at Daejeon in Round 13.

Team of the Round

Suwon FC (vs. FC Anyang)

With back-to-back victories, Suwon FC have massively bolstered their survival prospects. Against Pohang, Kim Eun-jung's men were clinical, scoring five goals from nine shots on target, and making the most of a man advantage in the second half with a brace from new signing Willyan, and a goal from defender Ahn Hyeon-beom. Given Suwon had the lowest xG total in the division prior to Tuesday (22.8), they'll want to retain their newfound attacking edge when up against FC Anyang, who thrashed Daegu FC 4-0 in midweek.

Player of the Round

Lee Chang-min, Jeju SK (vs. Gimcheon Sangmu)

Always reliable, Lee Chang-min was again key to Jeju SK's fortunes on Wednesday as he provided a goal and assist in the club's 3-2 victory against FC Seoul. This year, the 31-year-old midfielder averages (per 90) 5.32 accurate long balls, 57 accurate passes, 4.96 recoveries, 2.09 shots, and 1.55 chances created. Up next for Jeju is a trip to Gimcheon Sangmu, who sit in third place following a 1-1 draw with Gwangju FC.

Elsewhere in K League 1 Round 24

Looking to push themselves back into AFC Champions League contention, Gwangju FC host Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, who themselves have won three consecutive games. Elsewhere, Daegu FC will look for their first victory since May, facing off with a Pohang Steelers side that comes into Sunday on the back of three consecutive defeats. Finally, on Sunday, Gangwon FC will hope to return to winning ways at the expense of an out-of-form Ulsan HD.
