Announcement: Team K League Squad Candidates

With the Coupang Play Series just around the corner, K League can announce the list of candidates for Team K League to take on La Liga giants Atlético Madrid on Thursday 27th July.

Ulsan Hyundai is the team with the most players up for vote with six, followed by Pohang Steelers and Gwangju FC with five, Daejeon Hana Citizen, FC Seoul, and Jeju United with four, Daegu FC and Suwon FC with three, and two each from Gangwon FC, Suwon Samsung Bluewings, and Incheon United.

A total of 22 players will make it through to the final squad, giving Ulsan Hyundai manager Hong Myung-bo and his assistant Daegu FC boss Choi Won-kwon essentially two elevens to choose from on the night.

There are four goalkeepers to choose from, 16 defenders to whittle down to four starters, 12 players vying for the three midfield spots, and 12 forwards for three places up front in a 4-3-3 system.

An initial fan vote will begin at 12:00 noon on Wednesday 5th July and will last until midnight on July 16th. After that, Coach Hong Myung-bo and the technical committee will select the squad after consultation and consideration of the players' positions as well as the distribution of K League clubs' representation. Only three players maximum can be chosen from one particular club.

The final candidates will be announced on July 17th then Coach Hong Myung-bo will finish the final squad with an announcement due on July 18th.

Voting will be done on K League membership application Kick and one vote can be made per user.
