1. 10 teams will compete in 4 Round robins (36 rounds) during the regular season.
2. The winner of K LEAGUE 2 will automatically advance to K LEAGUE 1, while the 2nd~4th ranked teams will play in the K LEAGUE 2 Playoffs. The winner of the Playoff will then face the 11th place team from K LEAGUE 1 for the remaining spot of the upcoming K LEAGUE 1 season.
3. The K LEAGUE 2 Playoff rounds will be as follows: the 3rd and 4th place teams will play a single knockout game in the 3rd place's home stadium. If the score is tied after 90 minutes of play, the 3rd place will be the winner. The winner will advance to the Playoff Semifinals and face the 2nd team in their home stadium. If the score is tied after 90 minutes of play, the 2nd place team will be the winner. The winner of the K LEAGUE 2 Playoff will then play against the 11th team in a single knockout game to decide the 11th team to join the upcoming K LEAGUE 1 season.
4. The final decision of the team will be made according to rule #25 of K LEAGUE.
