2024 Hana Bank K League 2 Round 20 Preview.

Match of the Round

Chungnam Asan (4th) vs. Seoul E-Land (5th), Mon. 1st July - 19:30

Chungnam Asan in fourth take on Seoul E-Land in fifth this Monday night in a match that could have a huge say in what the top six or seven looks like in K League 2. Heading into Monday's clash, Chungnam Asan sit two points above Seoul E-Land, while the Leopards are level on points with both Suwon Bluewings in sixth and Chungbuk Cheongju in seventh, while Bucheon in eighth are only one point behind. A win, then, will be a must if the Leopards want to keep their place in the playoffs spots. But Kim Do-kyun's men take on a side that has picked up back-to-back 4-0 wins - first over Gyeongnam at home and then over Seongnam on the road. The Owls are only two points behind second place and so could ruffle a few feathers should they make it three straight wins.

Chungnam Asan rank joint-second in the division for goals scored with 27, which is interesting when taking into account that their shooting accuracy is the second-lowest in K League 2 at 31.4%. Seoul E-Land are the division's top scorers with 31 but after managing just one goal in their last two, will be keen to get back on track. Seoul E-Land have two players in the top five when it comes to combined goals and assists with Bruno Silver on 12 and Eduvie Ikoba on nine - Bruno Silva is the league's top scorer with nine. For Chungnam Asan, Juninho Rocha is in good form at the moment having bagged three goals in his last two outings, while Josepablo Monreal has hit the ground running since making the move from Suwon FC, having scored in both of his first two matches for his new club.

The first meeting of 2024 ended in a 5-0 win over Seoul E-Land.

Team of the Round

Ansan Greeners (vs. Suwon Samsung Bluewings, Sun. 30th June - 19:00)

Ansan Greeners' 3-0 win over promotion hopefuls Seoul E-Land in midweek was their biggest K League 2 victory since August 2022. Kim Jae-sung opened the scoring for the Green Wolves with five minutes to go until the interval, notching his second of the campaign, before Park Jun-bae scored his second of the season just after the hour mark. The win was Ansan's fourth of the campaign and moves them within a point of 12th-placed Gyeongnam FC. Ansan were very efficient, too, having managed to score three goals from four on target and while having 37.25% possession. Up next for Ansan is their first-ever trip to Big Bird to take on Suwon Bluewings. The Greeners are also looking for their first win over Suwon with the Bluewings having won all three of the previous meetings. The first encounter this season ended 1-0.

Player of the Round

Rodrigo Bassani, Bucheon FC 1995 (vs. FC Anyang, Sun. 30th June - 19:00)

Bucheon FC 1995's first comeback win of the campaign was sealed thanks to Rodrigo Bassani's 85th-minute winner away to Cheonan City on Wednesday. The goal itself, while also being very important for Bucheon's promotion push, was stunning in its execution. The former Suwon Bluewings attacking midfielder picked the ball up 25 yards out and let rip with his left foot, finding the top corner. Bassani is now on four goals for the campaign and the win keeps Bucheon in the playoff hunt, sitting just a point behind the top five. Up next for Bucheon and Bassani is the visit of the league leaders FC Anyang in something of a Gyeonggi Province derby. The first meeting of 2024 ended in a 3-0 Anyang win so Bucheon will be determined to set the record straight
