League leaders Ulsan Hyundai are back at the Munsu Stadium this Sunday for the visit of Gwangju FC. Ulsan have already suffered defeat to one newly-promoted side, that being Daejeon Hana Citizen three rounds ago, and so will be looking to avoid a repeat of that against the other side that's new to the division this season, Gwangju. Since that defeat to Daejeon, Ulsan have picked up four points from six available; drawing 2-2 draw against East Coast Derby rivals Pohang Steelers before a Martin Ádám goal secured a 1-0 win away to Incheon.
Ulsan and Gwangju are joint top for shots on target with 45 and they've had a similar number of attempts on goal blocked too - 22 for Ulsan, 21 for Gwangju. The teams also average a similar number of corners, Ulsan with exactly five and Gwangju 5.11. So far, Joo Min-kyu is Ulsan's top scorer this season with four while Jasir Asani leads the charts for Gwangju, also with four.
Sunday's encounter will be the first between the two teams since September 2021. Overall, there have been 21 previous meetings, Ulsan have won 14 of them, Gwangju only one, while six have ended in draws. Gwangju's only win over Ulsan dates back to July 2015 when a Kim Ho-nam goal in the 17th minute earned the Yellows an away win.
Team of the Round
Daejeon Hana Citizen (vs. Jeju United, Sun. 30th April - 14:00)
Newly-promoted Daejeon Hana Citizen on Wednesday added another name to its list of high-profile victims, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. The Purples picked up a 2-1 win away to Jeonbuk thanks to goals from Anton Kryvotsyuk and Lee Jin-hyun, the latter going straight into from a corner. Daejeon have now beaten last season's K League 1 champions Ulsan Hyundai, last season's FA Cup winners in the Green Warriors, as well as K League giants FC Seoul and Suwon Bluewings. Daejeon are the division's joint-top scorers with 18 goals while midfielder Lee Jin-hyun has four assists and three goals for the campaign. Up next for Daejeon is the visit of Jeju United for a first K League 1 meeting between the two teams since 2015.
Player of the Round
Lim Sang-hyub, FC Seoul (vs. Suwon FC, Sat. 29th April - 14:00)
A brace on Wednesday in the 3-2 loss to Gangwon FC put Lim Sang-hyub on three goals for the campaign. Along with an assist Gwangju FC in Round 2, gives Lim a goal contribution once every two games. The experienced winger has worn the captain's armband on a number of occasions this term in place of Stanislav Iljutcenko and is establishing himself as a key player for manager An Ik-soo. Lim has made eight key passes and has landed 62.5% of his shots on target. Up next for Lim and FC Seoul is the short trip to Castle Park to take on Suwon FC, a side that has drawn its last two matches.
